About ZoneLab
Film photography isn't a guaranteed formula. Your results depend on countless variables: the film stock you chose, how you exposed it, which developer you used, your water temperature, your agitation technique, even the humidity in your darkroom that day.
ZoneLab can't tell you the "right" way to develop your film. What it can do is help you establish a consistent, repeatable process with as many variables controlled as possible. By systematically testing your materials and logging the results, you build a reference library of how your particular process performs under controlled conditions.
This is the essence of the Zone System: not a set of rigid rules, but a method for understanding and controlling your craft. Test, measure, document, refine. Know your process so well that you can pre-visualize the final print before you even press the shutter.
What ZoneLab Does
Zone System Testing
Systematic film and developer testing using the Zone System. Calculate effective ISO, Contrast Index, Gamma, and gradient to understand your materials.
Know Your Process
Build a reference library of how your specific film/developer combinations perform. Track what works for you through controlled, repeatable testing.
Document Everything
Log film, developer, camera, lens, and lighting conditions. Chart your results over time. Export to CSV for long-term process records.
